OZO Ostrava evaluates CTC on their Hiab cranes

Two years ago, waste collecting and handling company OZO Ostrava s.r.o. invested in two new vehicles fitted with Hiab hydraulic loader cranes with CTC software function. OZO has become the very first European company to have Hiab cranes equipped with this new software feature CTC that greatly simplifies the handling of underground containers.

In a short video, OZO Ostrava evaluates the Hiab technique, work with CTC and cooperation with Czech dealer of Hiab, company CONTSYSTEM, which provides the servicing of the handling equipment for OZO Ostrava.

CTC stands for Crane Tip Control and it is a software feature in the HiPro control system that helps you move the crane tip precisely the way you want. The control system will select the ideal path from one point to another, so that you can focus on your load instead of on your crane’s motion. The CTC is activated with a button on the hand control and the crane moves are then coordinated with one joystick. The operator no longer has to maneuver each boom and perform up to three operations to maintain the required crane trajectory in the vertical or horizontal direction. The crane will do it for him.

Lennart Andersson, Product Manager of Control Systems, explains the development behind Crane Tip Control, CTC:

• Thanks to CTC, the operator can handle more complex handling tasks
• With CTC, work is smoother and faster
• When handling underground containers, the containers are not jammed when they are pulled out
• The operator can simply activate or deactivate the CTC function by pressing a button on the hand controller. The crane immediately switches between CTC and normal mode, so the operator can always return from any situation that cannot be done with CTC.

Currently, CTC features can be equipped with cranes with state-of-the-art control systems on the market today, HiPro, the following series: X-HiPro 142E, 162E, 192E, 232E, L-HiPro 145, 165,195, 235 and K-HiPro 425. If the crane is equipped with a CTC function, it automatically has the SAF function (Semi Automatic Folding).
